Disney is one of my favorite cruiselines and the latest cruise Will and I took was on the Disney Dream. This is one of the two newest ships in the Disney fleet and also quite a bit larger than their first two ships the Magic and the Wonder. We opted not to take Emma as she was only a year old and leave her with her grandparents for a few days. After getting onboard I think we both might have regretted not taking her since there were lots of other kids her age or even younger onboard. We said we would definitely take her next time around.
I took a night shot here because the top deck is so magical when lit up at night. The played movies poolside day and night. There were lots of quick bites on the top deck to choose from along with a soda station complimentary to all guests.
The Dream was certainly not limited when it came to opportunities to shop. Will and I spent a bit of time in there looking for something to bring home Emma. We settled on a little stuffed Winnie the Poo and and a Disney onesie.
There was a great lounge area dedicated to families where they had game show style entertainment. In passing it looked like everyone was having a great time.
There was plenty of adult lounges each with their own style although we aren’t very late night people so we usually hit a show or a movie in their theater and went to bed at a reasonable time. We tend to get up early on cruises and go walk the deck or go to the gym before tendering at the ports of call for the day.
We booked one of the aft balconies which book up very early so plan ahead if you want one of these. They are larger then the other balconies at the same cost. Note that the balcony is not plexi glass and you cant see through them.
Being new parents Will did not have time to get a hair cut before the cruise so first order of business for him was the salon.
Especially on the Dream and Fantasy I would recommend concierge class rooms for the added amenities as well as the concierge lounge. As you can see in my pics they have their own private sun deck as well. If you are interested ask me for more details on the concierge class. These also book up very early.
Overall I would say I really liked the additions to the Dream from when we went on the Wonder but I did like the smaller size of the Wonder compared to the Dream. Our next cruise on Disney is on the Magic which is undergoing a large refurbishment and we are taking both kids! Stay tuned for a blog on that cruise next May!
